Amazing police mystery book. Mike McBride and the other characters are all solid and well defined. It is well written with beautiful descriptions. The plot is filled with action, murder and even romance that does not feel forced, but makes you read on for more. Animal lovers will be pleased with the character of Mike's dog Lady. I loved the fact that bits of comedy showed up during the book. Life has many various elements and so does this excellent book. Book 2 here I come!

In Car 006 Responding, we meet Mike McBride, a patrol cop, his partner and his family. This book is a good opener for a series, which it is. We have Mike's mom, who is very interested in having her son find a nice girl, and his dad, a local fire-fighting hero. But Mike is interested only in being the best cop on the job, until the beautiful Juli is threatened by her rich boyfriend who has more of a history than she bargained for. If you like straightforward police stories with some action and romance, while remaining family-friendly, this book is for you. I plan to read more of the series.
This book kept me interested throughout. I love mysteries w/a touch or romance.

I have no idea how I came across this series. But I'm glad I did. I like Mike in this book I love the plot and flow of the story and am going to buy the next book in the series.
Dorothy May Mercer has written a police procedural filled with action and suspense. She even makes room for love. The characters and relationships are solid and warm with just the right touch of humor. She reveals the value of family and the love and support found between parents and their adult children. In the same vein, Ms. Mercer has peopled her story with personalities who highlight the strength of character of the individuals who dedicate themselves to the important and challenging field of law enforcement. On top of this, the four-footed, furry hero Lady truly captured my heart.
I was interested in this series as it was about the border problems with Mexico and the download was cheap. The writer seems to have been reared in the era of John Wayne and the Good Old Days. The characters sound like they belong in a bible school. There are good guys and bad guys. Bad girls (Mexican) and lily white good girls. Instead of riding into the sunset these good guys are going to Washington. HA! Ha!
